Technical help.
- PDF FILES
Please provide just the foil blocking or embossing areas in black.
-ART WORK
Most formats can be used. Artwork should be sharp, black and white, and supplied at 100% scale.
If you are supplying disks, please also supply a laser runout so that we know the disk has run properly.
Supply your origination as a line image either on disk, film or bromide.
Elements which are too close together may fill in.
To prevent the artwork from puckering, do not emboss too close to the edge.
Embossing lends itself to good bold images, thin type will not give a good effect.
- OTHER ACCEPTABLE FILES
eps, tiff, pict or jpeg.
- SCALE
We will assume that your art work is at 100% unless you tell us otherwise.
- B2 SHEETS
Impressions can cut B1 sheets to run as a B2 sheet if required.
- MAX SHEET SIZE
820 x 560.
- UV VARNISH
Foil will not adhere to UV varnish so leave 5mm from varnish to the foil area.
- SEALING A PRINT JOB
Use aqueous sealant rather than a solvent based one.
- DRYING
Please ensure that jobs have enough drying time.
- FOILING
The ink must be dry before the foil will adhear.
- TESTING COATED AND VARNISHED ITEMS
We are happy to test any coating or varnish before running a job.
- GRIP
Minimum grip for sheets up to SRA3 must be 20mm before start of foil area on both grip and side lay edges. For sheets up to B2 minimum grip must be 30mm.
- ENVELOPES
We are able to foil made up envelopes but not over thickness changes as this will create an uneven impression.
- EMBOSSING
Deep embossing may not be compatible with desktop printers so check your intended equipment to make sure.
Flat sheets should be embossed before make-up to stop the impression showing on both sides.
For made-up envelopes, do not emboss over areas where the thickness changes as this will create an uneven impression.
